Activists and Celebrities Have #TheTalk with MTV for MLK Day
MTV’s “Look Different” campaign helps America’s youth better recognize and challenge racial, gender, and anti-LGBT biases. Launching today, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, the network will be sharing video and written testimonials about #TheTalk from celebrities, artists, cultural figures, and young people — including ELIXHER’s very own founder and editor-in-chief, Kimberley McLeod.
Participants speak about the conversations they’ve had with friends and family about how race plays a role in their lives. The channel will also air in black and white for twelve hours on MLK Day, in an attempt to spark conversations about racial disparities.
Check out one of the clips on microaggressions below. MTV will continue rolling out videos throughout the week — and we’ll feature our faves. Tell us what you think of their new campaign in the comments.
