A Tribute to LGBT Women Legends, Icons of African Descent & their Allies

To recognize the contributions of proud LGBTQ Women of African Descent & their Allies who lived and celebrated their sexuality from the 70’s and beyond. Sharing their herstory as they reflect on their many challenges, and how the LGBTQ community has progressed.

This year honorees include:
Roberta “Oloyade” Stokes - Choreographer
Shawn Smith-Cruz - Archivist & Librarian
Yours Truly Richard E. Pelzer II - President of Global Network of Black Pride
and in Loving Memory of Edwinde Bey - Former Lead Vocalist of IBIS

Circle of Voices works hard to help to ensure opportunities for (LGBTQ) Women of African descent and Women of Color to locate Cultural Competent & Caring Resources (3CR) for free mammograms, free HIV/AIDS testing, cancer support, mental health support, preventative care resources (Dietary/Nutritional Info, Women GYN Services), Affordable Health Care Enrollment, community celebrations through the ART of Social Expressionism on their On-line Talk show. They offer various events, like “Digging Up Da Sistah Roots, their annual Tribute during Women’s History Month, their Fifth Friday Sistah Sessions and their 4th Friday Women Cultural Nights. Along with their community partners they work on addressing health disparities for this underserved community and they find health awareness and unique feel good resources.
