During our MobileHomecoming Journey we have noticed that Black LGBTQ communities in different parts of the country have been reclaiming the traditionally black nationalist holiday, Kwanzaa over the decades.

Inspired the community building impact Kwanzaa has had in Detroit and NYC the MobileHomecoming Project will be celebrating the 7 days/nights of Kwanzaa in Durham this year! Watch this video to hear from Imani Rashid in NYC and Dr. Kofi Adoma in Detroit, MI about the queer histories of Kwanzaa as a community practice in both cities.
