In the Spirit of Community-Building: Two Projects You Should Support
In the Spirit of Community-Building features projects that range from the personal to the political. By signal boosting these endeavors, we hope to empower, create, and sustain our own in solidarity and success. We’re asking our readers to put aside just $20 a month (you’re encouraged to do more if you can afford it or less if you can’t because every dollar counts!) and pledge to re-invest it back in our community. Can we count you in? Here are some projects you should support. Got one we missed? List it in the comments.
Help Revolutionary CeCe McDonald
Revolutionary black trans woman CeCe McDonald has inspired many people with not only her survival from a racist, transphobic, and misogynistic hate crime and her criminalization for that survival, but also how she has emerged from that experience as a brilliant and passionate advocate. Now out of prison since January, CeCe is in a very precarious financial situation and is practically homeless. She needs the community’s support and love to help her gain some financial stability so that she can thrive and do her incredible activism. For example, CeCe currently does not own a computer and her phone was recently temporarily disconnected because she couldn’t pay the bill. Please support her however you can!

Bring The Only Fashion Series for Tomboys to EUROPE!
TOMBOYISH is a popular style web series specifically for “tomboys”. With global success on YouTube, it’s time to film it overseas!
Launched on June 3rd of this year, TOMBOYISH is a short documentary series produced and curated by Ari Fitz (model, filmmaker, YouTube personality and most recent cast member on MTV’s Real World) celebrating and highlighting androgynous “tomboyish” style. Now every Tuesday, a new TOMBOYISH episode is released on my YouTube channel.
She developed the concept for the style series, TOMBOYISH, after her most controversial moment on MTV’s Real World - defending her wardrobe with two million viewers watching. After receiving hundreds of emails and comments from other young women facing the same issues, she knew she had to do more.
