R&B Singer Monifah Celebrates 43rd Birthday

Out singer Monifah commemorated her 43rd birthday with a touching Instagram post.

“I know I’m blessed to arrive at my 43rd year of life,” she wrote as the caption. “Grateful for my entire journey thus far. Every tear, every doubt, every joy, every shame, every disappointment, every laugh, every triumph, every pain. Thank You God for allowing me a chance to experience how utterly amazing You are & know that I am created in Your image. I possess the vision & strength to accomplish anything I can imagine as long as it is within Your will.”

Actress Laverne Cox Shares Life Journey at Northwestern University

Lav­erne Cox intro­duced her­self to the North­eastern Uni­ver­sity com­mu­nity on Monday night as a proud African-​​American trans­gender woman, an artist, an award-​​winning actress, a sister, and a daughter of a single mother.

“I believe it is impor­tant to name the var­ious inter­secting com­po­nents of my mul­tiple iden­ti­ties in public and with pride because I have not always been able to do so,” Cox said in her address, titled “Ain’t I A Woman.”
