L Word Mississippi Highlights Lesbians in the South
The creators of the Showtime drama series The L Word have cooked up a new project: L Word Mississippi: Hate The Sin. The 90-minute documentary film, executive produced by filmmaker Ilene Chaiken, takes a look inside the daily struggles of a group of Southern lesbians. The Fab Femme reports that the film features numerous interracial couples and so-called “conversion therapy” as a central storyline. L Word Mississippi premieres on Showtime on Friday, August 8th at 9 PM ET/PT. Until then, check out some behind-the-scenes photos from the doc here.
Lena Confronts Sperm Donor on The Fosters
On ABC Family’s The Fosters, Lena (played by actress Sherri Saum) gives sperm donor Timothy a piece of her mind. (Last season, she got pregnant with the known donor who went back on his word and refused to sign away his paternal rights.) [*SPOILER ALERT* ] In the most recent epi (204), Timothy shares that he has hired a lawyer to represent his claim for parental rights over Lena and her wife’s baby. Things have gotten super sticky since Timothy is serving on the hiring committee for the principal position Lena’s vying for. Timothy assures Lena he’ll be impartial but, understandably, Lena isn’t so convinced. In the end, Lena doesn’t get the gig but Timothy redeems himself. Not only does he inform Lena that he voted for her to get the principal position, but he also hands over the anonymous donor contract, complete with his signature.
