Oprah Winfrey will host an in-depth conversation about the being gay in America with three out stars on Oprah’s Next Chapter: Gay Hollywood.

Airing this Sunday, October 27 at 9 p.m. EST on OWN, the special will feature actress-comic Wanda Sykes, Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Scandal Emmy award-winner Dan Bucatinsky.

When she was 44 years old, Emmy-nominated comedian Wanda Sykes came out during a gay rights rally. Since then, Sykes says she has faced a “trifecta of discrimination” because she’s black, gay and a woman.

“If you’re being discriminated against, how do you know it’s because you’re a woman, because you’re black, or because you’re gay?” asks Oprah.

“Ahh, that’s the problem,” says Sykes. The beauty of intersectional identities and burden of multiple oppression is that it’s usually all three factors (or more) at work.

Watch as she shares how she struggled with what the black community would say about her sexuality. We really hope the conversation steers clear of depicting black folks as monolithically homophobic. Will you be tuning in?
