Brittney Griner Featured in CNN Doc About Lesbian and Gay Athletes

As the world turns its eyes to Sochi, Russia, next month for the 2014 Winter Olympics, CNN is set to air a unique documentary highlighting the everyday struggle of out athletes. The one-hour original feature, titled World Sport Presents: Journey of the Gay Athlete, will explore [being gay] and homophobia in the world’s leading sporting federations. For the documentary, CNN was granted exclusive access to prominent out athletes, including WNBA superstar Brittney Griner…

Journey of the Gay Athlete will air [Saturday, January 11] on CNN International at 10 p.m. Pacific.

BET Emails About Host B. Scott Suggest Network Didn’t Want Him ‘Looking Like A Woman’p

The bitter legal feud between Black Entertainment Television (BET) and gender non-conforming host B. Scott took a sour turn Thursday after leaked emails appeared to show that media company officials communicated internally over their disapproval of Scott “looking like a woman” on air…

On Thursday, TMZ first published excerpts from leaked emails purportedly from BET personnel discussing Scott’s appearance before and after the show.

Prior to the event, BET music programming president allegedly wrote a message saying: “I don’t want ‘looking like a woman B Scott.’ I want tempered B Scott.” Afterward, BET executives reportedly wanted to spin the incident to avoid a public relations nightmare.

Why You Should Be Watching ‘The Fosters’

The Fosters is the latest in ABC Family’s teen-oriented family dramas. ABC Family has strived to add more realism and positive representations of families and teenagers on shows like Switched at Birth and the suspense series Pretty Little Liars. The Fosters goes even further by showcasing a non-traditional family with multi-racial and LGBT family members. It also challenges previous representations of the foster system.
